Filming outside the Forbidden City

I’ve never been a very good tourist. When I move to a new city, I like to skip a lot of the tourist sites and just breathe in the culture mingling with the local people. I mean, sure, I’d been to Tiananmen and the Forbidden City but I’d never quite made it to a Peking Opera performance. Sometimes though, you have to make the effort to do the seemingly touristy things to appreciate local culture. I’m glad Yin came along to watch us film that day. She picked me up from the airport when I first arrived in Beijing and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than watching a performance I’d always been meaning to see, on my one-year anniversary in this city with one of my first friends here.
