This is a meeting of the committee dealing with the election of the third Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and at the meeting people from all walks of life express a high degree of confidence in Donald Tsang. Looking back at the campaign of the last two months, it's quite evident that Donald Tsang has won the support of the people who approve of his plan of action and that they form the majority. His campaign manifesto, which embodies the spirit of "one country, two systems" promises to create a better future for Hong Kong. Two days later, Donald Tsang is elected the third Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It's a fresh endorsement of 10 years of "one country, two systems".

"This election is a victory for the principle of one country, two systems. It provides a sound basis for implementing the government's policies. I entered the race not to create division in our society. The third Hong Kong SAR government, under my leadership, will be a government for all sectors of society. Five years from now, I hope the people of Hong Kong will feel even more proud and that they will become more confident about the "one country's two systems" system," said Donald Tsang.

According to a poll of Hong Kong residents, since Hong Kong's return to China their confidence in their future development and their trust in the central government have risen steadily, and have now reached a historical height. The Hong Kong people, when they grasped their own destiny ten years ago, embarked on a brand new future with the motherland's support.

"We have confidence in the mainland. We have confidence in Hong Kong. So, I believe Hong Kong has tremendous potential," said Cheng Yutung.

"With the nation's support and the rise of China, we are very optimistic about the future of Hong Kong," said Thomas Kwok.

"We, as the residents of Hong Kong, must be of one mind. We must work hard and we must cherish what we've got," said Stanley Ho.

This is Central District, a piece of property that seems to have mystical powers. Here there are some 20 skyscrapers, all built on land reclaimed from the sea. Standing out among them are the IFC building and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition center, both landmarks that have emerged only in the last decade.

This is a new land reclamation project. Once completed, the skyline of Central will change yet again.

The project is being undertaken by the company George Chan works for: the China State Construction Engineering Company, and for him it means another mark on his chart.

"This is the center of everything in Hong Kong.I think it's going to be the last land reclamation project in Victoria harbor. When it's finished, the coastline will remain unchanged for at least 30 years.

It will be another major landmark for Hong Kong," said George Chan, General Manager of Civil Engineering Dept. China State Construction Engre.(Hong Kong) LTD.
