Helen Lai, resident choreographer from HK City Contemporary Dance Company, said, "My experience with the audience in Beijing is that they're very enthusiastic. I hope they'll see different aspects of my works, and from that they'll realize that the choreographers from Hong Kong are all working in their individual ways and they have their own style to present."

As the flagship modern dance troupe in Hong Kong, the City Contemporary Dance Company is renowned for its diverse range of programs and its endeavor to rally Chinese dance talents. The group is hailed as Hong Kong's cultural ambassador. And it's become a driving force of modern dance development in China.

A dance teacher said, "The show represents the essence of CCDC over the years. What's dear to me is not only tonight's program on stage, but also the in-depth look into this era, and the close connection between the productions and ideological changes of people and the society of this era."

Three independent contemporary troupes from Hong Kong are also joining the fray in the coming two weeks. They are the Unlock Dancing Plaza, the Why-Me-Dance Group, and the Passover Dance Company. All are to perform at the capital's Oriental Pioneer Theater.
