Elderly couple tour around 12 provinces on bicycle

Because the elderly woman and her husband have much time, they traveled slowly. "No matter how far the villages are, we will go and visit them." The elderly woman sticks to a travelling principle: she will go and see every scenic spot, even if netizens have said it is "bad." "I will not regret in the future, because I have gone to these places" Out of curiosity, she will certainly go to the places that netizens have never been to. 　

In early 2008, the elderly woman heard of a strange story in Hongni Village, which is located deep in the Taihang Mountains. "Once the villagers heard that we came from Nanjing, they immediately surrounded us." The elderly woman said that the scene was spectacular, and the villagers all wanted to see how the people from Nanjing were different from them in clothes and look. Then a middle-aged man walked out of the crowd and told the elderly woman that during the period of China Liberation War, the number 129 regiment of the Red Army passed by Hongni Village and stayed in the village for a while. For the convenience of marching, a solider left his two granddaughters in a villager's home. That villager was this middle-aged man's grandfather. After the war was over, the two children were taken by their relatives back to Nanjing, and the middle-aged man wanted the elderly woman to help him find the two aunts who had lived in his home.

After returning to Nanjing, the elderly woman began to inquire their whereabouts through media and her friends. Beyond everybody's expectations, she finally found them and helped the middle-aged man get in contact with them. During a period of seven years, the elderly woman and her husband heard of many interesting things throughout their journeys by riding bicycles, taking trains and cars, and on foot. For example, in 2008, they went to Changzhi on their bicycles, and happened to see a rich family celebrating a mother's 80th birthday. "The Henan Opera performance was given for eight days and nights, and villagers all went to the family's home to eat. All types of dishes were available." Furthermore, the couple also found many historical sites on the farmlands as they traveled.

Strategy: "donkey-type travel" and "cheap travel"

The scenic spots that she will choose to visit must have at least three characteristics: good scenery, free admission and low consumption. Therefore, every time they go out to travel, they only need to spend several hundred yuan. "If the bicycle breaks down, my husband will repair it; if it rains, we will put on raincoats. We can get off our bicycles to take the photos of the beautiful scenery at any time."

She never visits the scenic spot during the peak tourist season because "It will cost us too much money. For example, it costs us 600 yuan to live in a hotel when we visit the Fujian Tulou during peak season but only 60 yuan in the low season."

"If we want to visit southern Anhui Province, first, we can take train No. 2521 at 9:58pm to Shexian County, then, we go to the Shendu Town by bicycle where we stay for a night for 30 yuan, and the next day we ride about 70 kilometers back to Shexian County and take train K8420 to Ningguo City. If we want to visit the Changzhi City, we will choose to take the train. Although we have arrived in Gaoping Railway Station by bicycle at about 3:30pm that day, we would rather wait until to 8pm to take the train than to take the long distance bus. Because I know that the bus ticket is 18 yuan for each and the train ticket is 4.5 yuan each. As we are not in hurry, we chose to take the train. In this way, we can save money to have supper," she said to the reporters. "I cannot change the length of life but I certainly can change its width," this is her life philosophy. She said that she hopes that she could live a more excellent life.
