Many Chinese who don't have time to go to the movies can enjoy many
good Chinese movies on TV. Chinese television stations, national or local,
broadcast about a dozen movies each week.
As far back as 1988, a Chinese movie called "Red Sorghum" was
awarded the Golden Bear Prize at the International Film Festival in West
Berlin. China's major annual national awards include the Golden Rooster
Film Awards sponsored by the China Film Association, the Hundred
Flowers Awards of "Popular Cinema" magazine and the Outstanding
Film Awards given by the State Administration of Radio, Film and
Television.
