  Lhasa, meaning"the Land of the Gods"in Tibetan, is the capital of the Xizang Autonomous Region, as well as the centre of Tibetan politics, economics, culture, traffic and religion. Located on the north bank of the Lhasa River, one of the tributaries of the Yarlongzangbu river, Lhasa is an ancient city with a history of more than 1,300years.The urban district covers an area of 32 square kilometres with a population of 110,000.The altitude of 3,650 metres on the valley floor makes this large city the highest in the world. In Lhasa, the weather is fairly mild and pleasant, the scenery under the sunlight in all seasons is radiant and enchanting without a bitter winter cold or a sweltering summer heat. with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, Lhasa is famed as "The City of Sunshine".Lhasa is an enchanting city in a valley on the plateau. There and many historic sites and famous relics Potala Palace, which is the highest palace in the world. It is built by piling on storey by storey along the hill slope with gold-gilded roofs. nearby are the famous Drepung Monastery, sera Monastery and Gandan Monastery, as well as others.
