| US to Provide Aid to Afghan Refugees |

US President George W. Bush announced a new aid package for Afghanistan on Thursday. The aid is meant to provide care for the hundreds of thousands of Afghans who have fled their homes for fear of US military action in Afghanistan. The US President said Washington will provide 320 million US dollars for food and medicine for Afghans. He said that while the United States firmly opposes the Taliban regime, it is a friend to the innocent Afghan people. Bush said the United Nations and private volunteer organizations will help to ensure the aid is delivered properly.
