The US aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk has left its home port in Japan once again, after returning briefly over the weekend.
The 81,123-ton Kitty Hawk left Japan on Monday morning and is believed to be heading to the Indian Ocean to prepare for the possibility of military action by the US. The Japanese Coast Guard deployed patrol ships, helicopters and special units to guard the aircraft carrier as it left. The Kitty Hawk is reportedly to have conducted airplane takeoff and landing drills in the Pacific. But when it returned on Sunday after being away for nine days, the US Navy declined to provide any details, or discuss its future actions. The Kitty Hawk is part of the US Navy's 7th Fleet. It houses around 75 aircraft and has 2,800 crew members.
