Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski said Sunday that his country firmly supports the U.S. military strikes against terrorism following the September 11 terror attacks on the U.S.
The Polish president said the newly nominated Prime Minister Leszek Miller expressed his support for the U.S. action against terrorism in a conversation with him.
Quite a number of Poles died in the September 11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the president said. So Poland should "make corresponding contributions" to the society.
President Kwasniewski reaffirmed his country's stand against terrorism, and expressed its intention to cooperate more closely with the United States.
In an interview with the Polish news agency PAP on Sunday, a spokesman for the Polish Defense Ministry said Poland, as an ally of the United States and NATO, has offered air space to the United States and sent troops to Macedonia to relieve the pressure on the U.S. military forces stationed in the Balkan country.
