Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said at a press conference a short while ago that no Pakistani air base has been used in US-led military strikes against the Afghan Taliban. He said, "Whatever is being done is from the carriers, the gulf or central Asian republics. Nothing has been used from Pakistan." He expressed support for the western community to take "short and targeted" actions against the terrorists, not against the country of Afghanistan and its people. He also said that the post-action scenario in Afghanistan should be balanced, and should not be an advantage to the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance. The political dispensation should be broad-based, representing all ethnic groups, he said, adding that any political dispensation should not be imposed on the Afghan people.
