Taliban Warns U.S. of Severe Consequences of Military Actions

Afghanistan's Taliban Monday warned the United States that its military strikes against targets in Afghanistan would bear "very severe" consequences and the attacks were doomed "unsuccessful."

The U.S.-led strikes were a "terrorist" assault, and the United States is seeking its interest in the bloodshed of the poor peopleof Afghanistan, Abdul Salam Zaeef, Taliban ambassador to Pakistan told a press conference televised by CNN.

The Taliban envoy repeatedly denied any involvement in terrorism, saying that "Afghanistan has never done terrorist action."

On the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, the prime suspect behind the September 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S., the envoy confirmed that "he is alive" and "he is in Afghanistan."

However, "Taliban has not had contacts with bin Laden," said the envoy.

Meanwhile, he said that almost 30 Afghans in Kabul have been killed in the air strikes launched on Sunday evening.

Taliban claimed that it has shot down one airplane, he added.
