The Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, said that Sunday night's U.S.-led air assault was a "terrorist act." He warned the United States of severe consequences for their attack on Afghanistan.
He said at a news conference in Islamabad, capital of Pakistan on Monday that the raids, which he described as "horrendous terrorist attacks", were also "illegal and unprincipled."
The ambassador noted bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Omar both survived the attacks, which went on for nearly seven hours. Zaeef also repeatedly denied any Taliban involvement in terrorism, saying " Afghanistan has never done a terrorist action."
