The Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, Abdullah Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, dismissed U.S. reports that raids had destroyed Taliban's defence capabilities. He made the remarks at a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Zaeef said American planes are flying very high and out of range. He added that Afghan air defences were neither sophisticated nor modern. Zaeef said Taliban Supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar and Osama bin Laden were still alive after the third night of raids. He insisted that the Taliban had no evidence that "al Qaida" -- the shadowy organization belonging to fugitive Osama bin Laden -- was involved in terrorism.
