The latest update by New York City authorities shows that over 5,100 are presumed dead a month after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center (WTC).
A total of 4,776 people have been reported missing and 442 confirmed dead. Of these, 384 bodies have been identified, mayor Rudolph Giuliani told reporters on Thursday.
The September 11 attacks on the United States involved four hijacked passenger planes, with two of them hitting and toppling the twin 110-story towers of the WTC and all 157 on board were killed.
A similar attack damaged Pentagon in Washington, leaving 189 dead and a fourth plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania with 44 confirmed dead.
