| US Continues with Heavy Bombing of Taliban Frontline |

US airplanes launched their fiercest strikes so far on the Taliban frontline in Afghanistan on Wednesday, in the fourth straight day of such assaults.
Waves of aircraft dropped bombs on the frontline trenches of the Taliban in the town of Bagram in northern Afghanistan. The US-led attacks are believed to be part of moves to support the opposition Northern Alliance. Air strikes were also carried out against Taliban concentrations of troops and armoured vehicles throughout the country. In retaliation Taliban soldiers fired missiles and mortar at US aircraft. US officials say they are surprised that the heavy bombings have failed to break the morale of the Taliban.
