US President George W. Bush warned on Tuesday that terrorists were seeking chemical, biological and nuclear weapons to threaten global stability. He made the remarks during a satellite address to leaders from 17 Eastern European countries.
Regional leaders gathered in Warsaw at the invitation of Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski to see Bush's video adress. During the satellite link to the conference, the US President for the first time accused Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda network of seeking nuclear weapons.
Bush said Eastern Europe was a key ally in the US-led campaign to destroy forces loyal to bin Laden, the prime suspect behind the September 11 attack on the United States. The regional leaders enthusiastically backed the US anti-terror drive.
