Introduction to Pingyao Ancient City  |

 Pingyao Ancient City is located in the center of Shanxi province, with the Fen River passing by. It is 100 kilometers away from provincial capital, Taiyuan.
Pingyao Ancient City has a history of more than 2700 years, and it is the most completely maintained county town of Ming - Qing period. It is a typical ancient county town of Chinese Han nationality in the central plain of China. Most of the city walls, streets, residence homes and temples in the city are undamaged and the construction style maintained. They are cultural relics and living specimens in study on Chinese politics, economy, culture, military, architecture and art.
On December 3, 1997, Pingyao Ancient City joined the World Heritage List of UNESCO.
