|
Experts from the World Culture Heritage Committee arrived in Beijing on Tuesday. They are meeting with the National Historical Relic Bureau and the leaders of Imperial Tombs of the Ming Dynasty Scenery.
The purpose of the meetings is consideration of the Ming Tombs for world heritage status. Chinese representatives told the United Nations experts about the historical reforms, protection and related restrictions concerning the Ming Tombs.
Renovation began in the Changping area in 2001. The main structures in the 40-square-kilometer complex have been returned to their original ashy-black color. Recently built residences and other buildings have been demolished. Old structures surrounding the site have been painted gray. Electric and cable TV wires have been buried underground. The site's appearance has been returned to how it looked hundreds of years ago.
The UN experts will examine the area in the next few days.
