Experts cast fine tomb comb over Ming burial site |
|
The burial site of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang is now under the microscope of some world heritage specialists. The emperor ruled over China nearly 600 years ago, and his reign marked the start of the Ming Dynasty. In life, he was a remarkable person who rose from humble beginnings to command an empire. Even now in death, his legacy is attracting international attention.
The specialists are in China to assess an application for the burial site to be listed on the world culture heritage register. The specialists, along with officials from the National Cultural Relics Bureau, are taking a first-hand look at some major sites, such as the Bei temple, the Wenwu gate and Shendao. The Ming tomb was among the first batch to gain the status of state protection sites, and, when the World Heritage Commission meets in Suzhou in June next year, the commission will decide whether it gets international recognition.
