Photo exhibition marks the one-year anniversary of 9.11

September 11th is also being marked in China. A photo exhibition revealing the stories that emerged from the rubble opened at the National Library this morning in Beijing. The exhibition's unveiling was a chance for the US government to express its appreciation for China's efforts in the anti-terrorism campaign. September 11th, a day to be remembered and US photographer Joel Meyerowitz has chosen to do it frame by frame. His pictures reveal the world's highest twin towers after they were reduced to rubble and come together in a collection called Images from Ground Zero. It's an endeavor supported by the Chinese government.

Pan Zhenzhou, Vice Minister of Culture, said: "These photos show the resolute determination of the American people to fight terrorism and to maintain peace, as well as their humanitarian spirit." There was one minute of silence during the opening to remember those who lost their lives. The gesture and general support from the Chinese people was acknowledged by the US government's highest official in this country.

Clark T. Rand, Jr., US Ambassador to China, said: "Our two great nations mutual efforts to combat terrorism has formed our future relations. 9.11 demonstrate to Americans, we have real enemies, and China is not among them. "The exhibition of 28 photos has been culled form more than 4000 taken by the US photographer. It will remain open to the public for the next two weeks.
