Awang Zhaxi

25-year-old Awang Zhaxi, a Tibetan, started mountain climbing seven years ago. In May 2006, his first time as team captain, he led his team to the world's highest peak. Awang Zhaxi was born in a village just over 20 kilometers away from Mount Qomolangma. So carrying the Olympic flame on the mountain has special meaning for him.
