Wen Jiabao meets African Leaders

Premier Wen and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak exchanged views on the tensions in the Middle East. And expressed the hope that the issues can be solved through political negotiations and the full implementation of UN resolutions. Wen said China is willing to strengthen coordination with Egypt in this field. Mubarak expressed his appreciation for China's consistent efforts in pushing forward the peace process for the region.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Driss Jettou, Wen said that China and Morocco have established a good relationship based on trust and that they should expand cooperation in agriculture, fishery, communications and personnel training. Furthermore China appreciated the efforts of Morocco in seeking a solution to the Western Sahara issue through political means. Jettou also expressed appreciation for China's stance on the issue.

Angola is China's largest trading partner in Africa. Premier Wen told Prime Minister Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos that China values their developing friendly relations. And that China supports Angola's reconstruction and development plans. Fernando expressed his country's willingness for the further strengthening bilateral economic ties.

In the meeting with Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, it was said that China understands the anxiety of African countries about their textile trade after the elimination of textile quota globally. Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam said his country would look to strengthen cooperation with China particularly in the fields of transportation and tourism.
