The Olympic Adventures of the Fuwas

The making of The Olympic Adventure of the Fuwas began June the 8th, 2006. Producers launched a campaign soliciting plot ideas. By the time the campaign ended, in February of 2007 thousands of proposals and over 200 scripts had been submitted. The submissions were by writers and by people who had never written anything before but who love cartoons. The response was viewed as a gauge of China's enthusiasm for the Olympics as well as their love for the Beijing Games mascots. The entire process was seen as a great promotion for the games.

July 13th, 2006 was the fifth anniversary of the announcement that Beijing would host the 2008 games. That day a cartoon summit opened in Beijing. There were cartoon masters from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao SARs, and Taiwan. Loads of ideas were tossed around for the production.

Attending the forum were fine artists, filmmakers, scriptwriters, and major animation studios. They came from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao SARs, and Taiwan. The group became an advisory body - supervising production from start to finish. Special attention was given to ensure that Chinese tradition was carefully blended with Olympic ideals.
