The UN and other aid groups say a humanitarian crisis could develop quickly if Israel does not ease border restrictions soon.

Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of Popular Committee Against Siege, says, "The international community must exert pressure on Israel to lift the siege and ease the living on the Palestinian people."

Both Israel and Hamas have signaled they want to restore the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire. But Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak has ruled out opening the crossings until militants stop cross-border rocket fire, which continued on Thursday.
