Chongsaikang: the oldest market in Lhasa

The history of Chongsaikang dates back as early as 1727. It was the minister's office of the Qing Dynasty's government in Tibet. For 300 years, Chongsaikang has been a shopping center. Now, it has more than 3-thousand merchants trading thousands of commodities.

Chongsaikang is the oldest, and the most famous  market in Lhasa.

Different ethnic groups do business together at the market, despite the facts that different ethnic groups have different ways of life style.
