The English Panorama in Nan Kai

Nankai University bears a high reputation with a history of hundreds of years. While you are walking on campus, the air is a mixture, both of a dense academic atmosphere, inherited from its long history, and a creative and original spirit surrounding you. The English Salon set up by the Foreign Languages Troupe is an attractive sight in this beautiful university.
“The Foreign Languages Troupe is made up of students from the college of
foreign language. The purpose was to get students to improve their
English while performing drama. Here, students can rehearse any English play they like. But only English majors can participate in the troupe, with only a few exceptions. For the sake of providing opportunities to other majors, and with the help of the teachers, the members of the Foreign Languages Troupe have held English Salon once a month since the year 2000.
There will be an English Salon today. We came to the classroom
following the students. The activity hasn’t begun; we see Professor Jiang from the English Department introducing the history and the achievements of the English Department and the Foreign Languages Troupe. Professor Jiang has been an English teacher in the English Department for over ten years. He always supports the students organizing the activities like English Salon.
The Salon begins with the opening remarks uttered by the Hostess. These
two girls are the most loyal fans of the Salon. They take part
in this activity almost every time. Today, they demonstrate a piece of film dubbing for the other students.
In the Salon, the students find it a very efficient way of practicing
English; that is, to provide the voices for the dialogues in their favorite English films.
And their English does improve a lot from studying this way.
Here we have some freshmen, acting in the English short play “Straw Man”.
They haven’t been in Nankai University for long. However, through
participating in the English Salon, they soon got involved in the campus
life.
The English Salon builds a relaxing English learning atmosphere. It
combines the study and practice of English in harmony . All the
students confess that it is a good experience for them to study English
here.
“Change with Each Passing Day” is the motto of Nankai
University. On this beautiful and peaceful campus, the students are trying every new way to learn English. They believe that what they plant, they’ll harvest.

南开大学英语生活"英语沙龙"

南开大学是一所具有百年历史的名校, 走在校园中，你除了可以感受到历史所带给她的那种浓厚的学术气息之外，你还可以感受到有一种活泼清新的空气环绕在你周围，由外文剧社组织的英语沙龙恰恰是在这种气氛中的一道亮丽风景线。
采访1：我们尽可能地给喜欢英语和喜欢戏剧的同学提供一个平台。在这个平台上，我们可以轻松自由地认识很多新朋友，更重要的是我们可以彼此互相交流学习英语的方法。
“外文剧社”是由外语学院的学生组成的团体，剧社成立的宗旨就是让学生在表演戏剧的过程中锻炼英语，学生们在剧社里可以用英语排演自己喜欢的剧目。可是由于条件有限，外文剧社只招收外语系的学生，为了给其他专业的同学提供一个用英语展示自己的机会，从2000年起，在老师的帮助下，外文剧社的同学每个月都会举办一次英语沙龙活动。
今天又是英语沙龙活动的日子，我们随着同学们来到了活动现场。活动还未开始，外语系的老教授蒋老师利用这段时间向同学们介绍南开外语系及外文戏剧社的悠久历史和曾取得的成绩。蒋教授已经在外语系执教十几年了，他一向都非常支持学生们举办
的这样的课外活动。
采访2：学生们不仅仅要在教室里学习，去背书本上的东西，他们应该把所学的东西运用到实践当中。
伴着英语沙龙的主持人的开场白，活动正式开始了。这两个女孩子是沙龙的忠实拥护者
，几乎每一次沙龙都会来参加，这一次他们给大家带来的是一段精彩的原声电影配音。
选择自己喜欢的英文电影，模仿影片中人物的英语对白，是同学们在沙龙中找到的一种
很有效的学习英语的方法，这种方法也的确让他们受益匪浅。
采访3：当你在练习配音的时候，你可以发现很多新的单词和新的词组，可以增加你的词汇量，因为你必须要理解并背诵这些单词。我们还要去模仿片中演员的语音、语调
这些学生都是大一的新生，他们在这里表演了英文短剧《稻草人》。虽然他们步入大学
校门的时间并不是很长，但是英语沙龙却让他们很快融入了校园的生活。
采访4：同学之间都不是很了解，所以参加这样的活动除了学习之外还为了丰富我们的生活。
采访5：我很喜欢这样的活动，可以通过这种方式来学习英语，你不必总是呆在教室里，你可以到这样的环境中来，你也不用聚精会神的去听什么，我可以很放松的，如果你喜欢，你就可以听一听，这样也可以锻炼自己的英语听力能力。
英语沙龙为同学们营造了一个轻松的学习英语的氛围，英语的学习与实践在这里和谐地
结合到了一起，同学们认为只要参与进来就是一种很好的学习英语的经历。
“日新月异”是南开大学的校训，在这片沃土上，同学们在孜孜不倦地寻找各种方法来
学习英语，他们相信有付出就一定会有回报。
