Traffic: Beijing will invest 80 billion yuan to upgrade its traffic infrastructure in 2010

Vice director of Beijing Municipal Traffic Committee Li Xiaosong said that Beijing will invest 80 billion yuan to upgrade its traffic infrastructure in 2010. Five inner-city railway lines will be opened and put into service in 2010. Most of them are suburban lines, and the lines will make Beijing's traffic network become much more powerful. So far, Beijing's subway network has reached a high level in the world. In terms of ground lines, Beijing will also open and adjust 30 public bus lines in 2010.

Informationization: Information infrastructure needs to be promoted

Vice director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology Yu Cisheng said that if Beijing is to become a global city, then its information exchanging capacity, information infrastructure, information resource sharing capacity and e-government level will need further promotion in the aspect of informationization. Previously, Beijing had already made a three-year information infrastructure plan, and Beijing needs to "be more advanced and open, and have a much higher level of informationization" to become a global city.
