The smiling "angel"
On September 25, on the spot of the "Come on, Oriental Angels!" television program, when the host announced that Ren would be eliminated, all the other contestants cried together, Ren, however, comforted them and then left the stage in smile.
She even worried that she could not afford the traveling expenses for the competition
Legal Evening News (FW for short): Why did you decide to participate in "Come on, Oriental Angel!" at that time?
Ren Yueli (Ren for short): One day, when I was singing in Xidan, Dai Jun (a famous singer) came to me and suggested that I should participate in the program, because he thought that it suits me very well.
FW: What else were you thinking about at that time?
Ren: I only worried about that I could not afford the travelling expenses at that time, because I did not earn much by singing. I just asked myself how can reach Shanghai, and what should I do if I had no money to return?
FW: How did you ultimately solve the traveling expenses problem?
Ren: Dai told me that they would not only pay my travelling expenses and provide free food and drink, but also sent a music teacher to give me music lessons, so I was relieved and then came here.
FW: At the very start, how far did you feel you could go in the competition?
Ren: I did not really think about that. I came here not in order to get a reward but to study. I learned a lot here.
I was not good at performing, but now I can play a rent collector as well as a queen. I could not dance but I danced to a song, "Change My Ways" in the last competition. I also learned a lot of other things. I thought that it was worthwhile to take part in the competition, because I gained a lot from the experience.
Ren left her friends reluctantly
FW: During the live broadcast, you looked very relaxed when you were eliminated. It seemed that a very heavy burden was lifted from your shoulders. Did you feel tired?
Ren: Actually, I was only a little tired. I was relaxed not because the burden was lifted, but I was very happy when I heard that Jiani advanced.
FW: Did you prepare psychologically for the possibility of elimination before the competition? Do you have any regrets?
Ren: I had prepared for elimination throughout the competition, so I sang in the way as if I would leave the stage. I treated every competition as my last one, and was very serious when I was competing with other contestants.
One thing that I regretted most is that I cannot stay with those friends for a longer time, and lost the opportunity to learn on the stage.
FW: Among all contestants, you, actually, were the most popular one throughout the competition. Do you feel regretted about your early elimination?
Ren: I do not feel regretted, but I did not want to leave my friends because we had lived together for such a long time.
