History has left China with a wealth of legacies full of cultural and natural gems. On Wednesday, an exhibition featuring scenes of the World Heritage sites throughout the globe was staged at Beijing's Millennium Monument. The exhibition marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the United Nation's World Heritage Convention.

Carvings, scale models, sand tables and photos were used to give a vivid display of the 28 Chinese sites put on UNESCO's World Cultural and Natural Heritages list since China became a member of the UN World Heritage Convention back in 1985. If visitors want to know more beyond the visual aids, guides were on offer at every part of the exhibition to give detailed explanations. Photos of symbolic world heritage sites in other continents were displayed to give visitors a rare insight into the heritage of other countries. Officials from UNESCO gave the thumbs-up to China's relentless effort to preserve the country's history.

The exhibition also aims to raise public awareness to better preserve these treasures from human damage.
